Welcome to the work of aspiring journalists and storytellers.

While writing is not the only skill taught within the Austin Community College Journalism Department, it is certainly a key component. And like any other skill, writing takes practice.

That’s where the ACC Star comes in. This website will serve as a platform for ACC journalism students to share their passion for reporting as they develop their writing style. Building a portfolio is important in order to advance in the reporting industry, whether you’re applying for an internship, a job, or a promotion.

It’s important to learn in the classroom. But it’s equally important to use what’s learned beyond the classroom walls. Here, students will be able to share stories about education, culture, ethics and issues facing young adults.

Between now and our initial stories, anyone who wants to learn more about this project, or would like to contribute ideas for future stories, can use the Contact tab above. After all, good writers need good ideas.
